Terri #10

I have a limited amount of pink cardstock now, so 2 layouts with lighter pink, 2 with a bolder pink. I think I like the bolder ones better.  Allison Davis sketch, AE stamp title, and the Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge.

Terri #6

I had a little fun with this one :)  I created a template out of plain paper and used my circle and rectangle coluzzle cutting things then laid it over my background and spritzed it with a combination of pink and yellow misters. I also misted the punched water borders to help them stand out. For the title, I used the H20 cricut cartridge. The layout is based on an Allison Davis/Sketch Support sketch. There were 4 copies of the layout, so

Layouts for Terri, #5

Out of all the colors of papers I tried, blue seemed to balance all the colors in the photo the best. I love these Colorbok paper pads at Joanns right now. Pastel, but not blah, floral but not stifling, artsy but no overly so. There were 4 copies of this photo, but only 2 of each paper in the pad, so 2 different backgrounds.
The heart made from tags is an idea I saw in Creating Keepsakes several years ago and really liked. The "family" part of the title is from the cricut Sophisticated cartridges. Four total copies of the layout, so

Layouts for Terri, #2

This layout was a bit of a challenge, since there were very distinct, and not exactly matching, colors to work with. I think the multi colored stripe paper works pretty well with them. Terri is doing her own journaling, hence the wide open space :)  I was able to use one of my favorite cricut cartridges, Graphically Speaking. There were 4 copies of this layout, so

Layouts for Terri, #1

For her birthday, I gave Terri a certificate to scrapbook 25 sets of photos (and their associate copies, since she makes multiple layouts for different albums). First up, Joe's Drive In. I used an Allison Davis sketch and the Nifty Fifties cricut cart for the title. There were two copies of this layout, so

splish splash

Saw the idea of trimming down the OA paper on 2peas and really liked it. I think the inking the photos and the misting the tan cardstock really made this layout.
The paper placement and the paper splashes were inspired by an Allison Davis layout, even though I didn't use the sketch.
Totally not how I expected this layout to go, but I like it.
Ugh. 88 minutes to complete this and still not sure I like it. The Imagnisce papers are cute, but kind of hard to work with. Allison Davis sketch, Sizzix letter dies, and Nestabilities square dies, cricut circle.

H20 cricut cartridge, Nestabilities square dies for the small pics
I really like this one :)

Creating a Silhouette graphic on the Cricut

There are tons of posts on message boards lately about how the Silhouette Cameo is so much better than the Cricut. Having seen a close up comparisson of finely detailed cuts, yeah it cuts better. And with Cricut seeming to be concentrating on Craft Room instead of cartridges, I decided to check out the Silhouette store. Plenty there to drool over, and plenty I want, but...I still like my Cricut and I have way too much $$$ invested to run out and get a new machine. I went back through my list of "ooh, I would love to have those" graphics and realized that most of them were phrases or were word based things, so I decided to see if I could come up with similar things using my Gypsy and plethora of cartridges. First up:

I totally love this! It's simple and colorful, and something I would actually use. And honestly, I needed to use it for a page anyway, since this is the song that Jacob makes me sing to him most often. So this is what I came up with as my first attempt:
I think it turned out pretty well! There is a definite learning curve for me to figure out welding, placement on the mat, spatial relationship, etc., but it'll get there. It took a few tries to get sizing right; for me "1 inch" doesn't mean anything until I've cut it out and laid it on a page to judge. The "you are my" and "sunshine" in my graphic are different sizes in my final page rather than the same width as in the original, mostly because I wanted it to span the entire top of my 8.5x11 inch page. It could certainly be condensed for a card or a smaller page. I wanted a more playful sun that what they used, but that's a personal issue. The other thing I learned? Write down what cartridges you used because even if you think you'll remember, you probably wont'. This is Going Places (cloud), Doodlecharms (sun), Nate's ABCs (you are my) and Cursive 101 (sunshine)

Blast from the Past 2007

K & Co Danny O, still my favorite line by them

Becky Higgins sketch

One of my first Cricut layouts (Base Camp, trying the Real Size dial option to mimic Basic Grey letter stickers)

Cricut-Base Camp

Check it--17 pics on a 2 page spread

Cricut-Opposites Attract

my favorite beach layout. Donna Downey/Simple Stories sketch

this is that layout scheme that I talked about that I use a lot--2 photos on the left side, either horizontal or vertical, and 6-8 wallet size photos on the right. I just like the way they balance each other.

Orlando vacation album, part 4

The weather has either been windy or wet and windy, but I finally gave in and photographed them in order to get them off my desk. :)
Basic Grey paper and an image printed from google.
Uh, ditto from above, LOL. Still needs a strip of journaling along the bottom. Will probably add that this week, with my new typewriter (squeeeeeeee!!!! I know, I'm a dork.)
MME paper and a piece gold metallic pipe cleaner from one of Jacob's art projects (I had trimmed it down to use on a page, and had the leftover piece still on my desk.)
When I originally pulled papers for this layout, I had grabbed the Basic Grey archaic, but since I used that on all the Jurassic Park layouts, I didn't want to use it on this one, too (plus, I was kind of sick at looking at it.) So I went with my other tried and true dino set, MME and a journaling spot from Jillibean soup. Based on an Allison Davis sketch (the same one from the rodeo layout, but flipped).
I could probably find another set of the letter stickers at Michaels and fix my second "a" but I'm trying to get out of the habit of buying letter stickers, soo...had to get creative. MMe striped paper, not sure about the blue. And look! Not one, but two kinds of ribbon. Trying to get into the habit of using ribbon, because I have a lot and can't bear to part with what I have left.
Totally winged it on this one. I had dug out the journaling card from MME then decided to see if I had any paper to match. The MME Quite Contrary line doesn't quite match, but I liked it the best and thought the tree leaf paper tied in with the story of Curious George throwing an imaginary stick into the tree for Scooby Doo.
I'm totally in love with this green paper from Crate Paper's Christmas line and struggling valiantly to keep from buying more. Not quite sure what to do with the open green area; I kind of like it, but it's kind of noticeable. Becky Higgins sketch, Martha Stewart photo corners, MM glitter flourish.
Jillibean Soup patterned paper, Bazzill border, MM glitter chipboard letters, and Thickers letter stickers.
Ok, it took 2.5 years, but I finally learned to weld words on my Gypsy! (see "land" above). I was on the right track, just missed a few steps. Crate Paper Toybox paper and stickers, Allison Davis sketch, QK letter die cuts, cricut Opposites Attract cart.

365 Layouts total: 67 and 3 mini albums

I'm a little behind (I should be at 73). I've been setting up my Project Life workstation, and I used my Christmas gift money to buy myself a typewriter to make my PL and regular scrapbook journaling easier. That, of course, meant having to clean off my desk to make room for it, which led cleaning up my room, which needed it anyway. Add in going through all my stuff in preparation for the crop on the 21st, and my scrapbook time has been used for everything but scrapbooking. I'm not too worried, though. I usually get 20+ layouts done at the crop, so I should be caught up after that.
