Studio Calico Spencer's kit (April 2013)

To be honest, when I first saw the sneaks and then the reveal, I wasn't real pleased with this kit. It kind of grew on me, though. No add-ons even tempted me this month.

The blue thought bubble was too light, so I misted it darker.

Misting also works on chipboard :)

The orange tab pulls out to reveal journaling by Brandon about his Minecraft game.

I was perusing the Studio Calico online gallery and saw that people were also using the Project Life kit cards on regular pages...not gonna lie, it was a d'oh! moment.

Studio Calico digital stamp from their May kit. I really like that I can still get the stamp images and not buy a whole kit. Now I just need to learn how to use Photoshop so I can do them in different colors and such. This one was simple enough to do, though.

Sigh, still not sure about this one. Maybe I need to stitch around the LOVE negative space in some orange thread.

Overall, I liked playing with the kit more than I anticipated and like the pages I got done. I still have a fair amount of paper scraps left, the entire roll of washi, the entire package of cork cameras, almost the entire sheet of stickers...and I tried to use the stamp, but I don't know, the border just didn't work for me.

Studio Calico Neverland kit (March 2013) and Hook add-on

Even though it is very pastel-y, I absolutely loved this kit! Just about all of it is stuff I would buy. I'm a little disappointed that the stamp is so stinking small, because other wise it was a cute idea for a stamp.

After watching a ton of nicolejones911 videos on Youtube, I've been inspired to try using my templates and masks more, and to do more with my mists than just splatter here and there.

After the February kit I had pretty much decided that I wasn't going to buy any add-ons because they seemed a little pricey for what you get. I caved this month and was able to get the Hook add-on (I also wanted Lost Boys, but all the kits sold out in about 1 minute, so I count myself lucky that I managed to get one thing). I mostly wanted it because of the stamp set, but it was a bonus that I would have bought most of the other items, anyway.

I actually have about half this kit left in terms of paper scraps and embellies. Maybe it was worth it this month.

Most people who know me know that I have 3 scrapbooking weaknesses: Christmas paper, October Afternoon products, and washi tape. After the holidays last year, I snagged 3 cute paper pads on clearance and I like them, but didn't end up using them for any of last year's pictures (because I had the aforementioned October Afternoon Christmas line...which I picked some more up on clearance at Archivers last month, doh!) Anyway, I decided I wanted to make some bases and clear out some of my Christmas stash. First up:

Doesn't this one just remind you of candy canes? I'm thinking this is finally the year I need to make good on my plans to try and make homemade peppermint ice cream.

I've been watching some scrappy video on Youtube and saw this idea on a nicolejones911 video for using up paper scraps.

Next up was a Recollections rebrand of a Crate Paper line. It was cute (and only $6) but I really struggled to use it.

I even used an Allison Davis/Scrapbook Generations sketch.

But eventually gave up after 6 layouts.

And finally, this Recollections pad, Festivus, that I picked up for $4. I originally passed it up because hand drawn stuff is just really not my style, but it was too cute to pass up and I loved playing with it. I kept plenty of scraps in case I want to play with it some more
