"Birthday Dinosaur!"

I had planned to try my hand at a 3-d, sitting triceratops, but while at Hobby Lobby for something else, Jacob grabbed this Wilton pan and marched down the aisle, saying "Birthday Dinosaur!" and that was that. I'm sure it was actually much easier, especially since I cheated and used the tubes of the Wilton premade icing for almost the entire thing. The downside? The cake is really, really sweet. But that's probably good, because it means little pieces.
Rick is not a fan of chocolate cake, but the boys always pick out chocolate cake mixes, so I thought I would be sneaky and purchase a 6 pack of white cupcakes at the store, pull the character rings off of the bright frosting and stick a dinosaur in them. But....I had taken Rick's car to the store, which has absolutely no trunk space (thanks to some enormous speakers that make him very happy), so I had to pile the groceries in the front seat so Jacob wouldn't eat them on the way home. Somewhere between Kroger and home, they slid sideways and all the frosting went everywhere. In my desperation to salvage them, I scraped off all the remaining frosting, and piped on some matching green frosting for grass and stuck the little dinos in them anyway. They're all gone, so apparently I did ok.

Title page for Tiger cubs. Practically just used the paper as embellishment since I hated to cover up the tiger. Will make a similar one for each level.
First camping trip. Used Wild West for the title, and cut the alligator with Animal Kingdom. Got points for using WW for the first time, and more patterned paper.

I actually like this one a lot. Used Stand and Salute for all the cuts, and some PP that I've had laying around forever. Plus, I really like the journalling in the frame from Stand and Salute. Thought that turned out good. Also, I had the LO finished and thought it needed to be backed, but didn't have 2 big sheets of the same blue, so totally cheated and cut 6 - 1/4" strips of blue paper and just glued them to the edges. It looks like I matted it with blue, but used a lot less paper.

A page and two cards

House warming card I made for my sis. That's the SU border punch and it has a matching corner. Watercolored the card with water color crayons.
OK, it's doing it again and I don't know why. So, tilt. This is what I wanted the invites to look like the whole time and finally got the shape off the cupcake wrapper cart you gave me. :) I rolled the paper with the ducky roller in yellow, then lightly inked around all the edges to give it a little more dimension. Nice when you only have to make 4 of them! LOL It's just the yellow, the blue is a folder I have it sitting on for the pic.

Really, really busy LO. That scout paper was just overpowering, but it's done. I also realized just now that I took the pic with the LOs on the wrong sides. It looks OK, but I want the title on the left. I was glad to use my stars felt ribbon from M's $1 bin.

July challenge 1

Huh, guess I could have used the medium size picture option, rather than leaving it on small from the other blog. Anyhoo, I couldn't actually remember what I put down for the July challenge, so I had to look on here and was pleasantly surprised to see that I got a few points.
Can I just say that I love this one? I've been moving these pictures around for a couple months, because I had no idea what I wanted to use. For the challenge, I can claim Doodlebug product and metal (metal rimmed tags).
No points for this one. I think I originally intended to hang something from the left hand side of the mat and jumped the gun on calling it done. I'll have to think about what I can come up with.

No points for this one, either, but that's ok. The BoBunny paper was easier to cut down than I thought it would be. The red heart and the little flowers on the trees are from some Reminisce things back in January. No point here, either. Cut the huge flower out, because I thought it needed something and otherwise the paper is really busy if you try and use the full sheet.
I thought this was a cute idea. The mat is supposed to look like a cookie. It was looking a little top heavy, so I added the swirls to the bottom. July challenge item: Doodlebug stickers.
The title makes more sense if you know that Jacob spent the entire time saying, "Hair!", as in brush the hair. The paper doesn't really match, but I kept going back to it so that's what I used.
Love Imaginisce stuff. I'm not entirely sure I'm done with this one yet. If you click on it, you can see that I used Heidi Swapp ghost snowflakes in three spots. I'm thinking I might use the itop to make some brads to go in the center of them. For now, one point for the rub-on title.
July challenge total: 4 points

July Challenge

Ok, here are my challenge items for July:

1. 10 layouts using the Cricut
2. 10 layouts using October Afternoon paper
3. 10 layouts using stamps
4. 10 layouts using rub-ons
5. 10 layouts using Doodlebug Design products (paper/stickes/brads)
6. 10 layouts using Cosmo Cricket paper
7. 10 layouts using paint
8. 10 layouts usng brads
9. 10 layouts using metal (photo corners, frames, photo turns, charms, letters, etc.)
10. 10 layouts using die cuts

Cricut Handbook Storage

I found this divided bin in the 4th of July section at Target. It has six cubbies, so I've divided my cricut books by basic font, fancy font, mixed (font and image), holiday/seasonal, and two for images. It's getting full, so I'm torn about checking other Targets for another white one. I'll probably add some patterned paper and some ribbon to dress it up a little; I'm thinking Cosmo Cricket Early Bird, since it's one of my all time favorite lines to look at.

June challenge #3

Easy card that is only showing up because it has a flower on it.
Challenge item: Basic Grey paper. It's kind of sad, but this layout took me longer than most. I'm always kind of proud of myself when I can fit 12+ pics on a layout and still have it look nice.

challenge items: MME paper, flowers and chipboard
The paper doesn't seem so overpowering IRL. I used the SU ink pads to color the chipboard and at first I didn't like it because it was so dark, but after it dried it was more true to the color on the lid. The texture of the stamp pad gives a little pattern on the chipboard, but that's ok by me. I'll remember it if I want some chipboard to look like denim.
Total for June: 47
Not quite what I hoped for, but still pretty good.
