Counterfeit kit #5

The kit:
the August 2009 My Creative Scrapbook mini kit. Most of it is MM Giggle Kids, a line exclusive to Archivers. I had most of it, and every time I would take it out, I would end up putting it back and choosing something else, so this was a good challenge to use it up. My take on the kit:
Most of the same papers, some flowers and ribbon, and I switched out the thickers for a set of chipboard alphas. As usual, I ended up using mostly the "b" sides of the papers. For example, the red Sassafrass geometric print? Didn't use a single bit of the red side, but used every bit of the tan bingo grid on the other side.
Allison Davis sketch. Added in: Deja Views journal block and an old MM yellow "a" sticker. I colored the chipboard letters with a Bic Mark-it pen.
Add-in: rhinestone brad

I saw the tan and the greens sitting next to each other than thought they'd make a cute tree, so I gave it a try. The green geometric was already a square, I just trimmed a wavy edge around it. Add-ins: rhinestones I had sitting on my desk, yellow cardstock scrap and Ali Edwards stamp sets.
Add-ins: leftovers from the yellow cardstock scrap, Deja Views journal card, Ali Edwards stamp, twine
On this one, I just started laying leftover pieces down. The alpha stamps are a set I found at Tuesday Morning for $2. One of the things that drew me to them (other than the font and the price :) ) was that there are several of each letter, making it easy to do lines of journaling all at once.
Add-ins: tags, the rest of the yellow cardstock, and Ali Edwards stamp.
Add-ins-Jenni Bowlin journal block and silver "rhinestones" I had laying on my desk. (Obviously I need to clean my desk)
I saw the large square of orange I had left and mixed with the leftover green, thought of pumpkins and realized I had once set of fall pictures left that I hadn't scrapped yet. I searched my Allison Davis scrapbook sketches books for sketches that had a large circle, and used the one I liked the best. I kept the orange as mostly a square shape, since I was afraid trimming it into a smaller circle shape would look weird since I wasn't carrying the shape over to the other page. Add-ins: thickers stickers, a glittered ginko leaf from Michaels, and some K & Co. sunflower stickers (the very last of the set, finally. LOL)
I was out of pictures, so I made some journal cards for PL. I was going to start cutting some larger pieces, when I realized what I had left was kind of patriotic so I came up with this:
Add-in: Bo Bunny journal card.

All that's left is some smaller pieces that I'll stick into the card scrap pile. 10 layouts and some journaling cards...not bad.

The full spread:

This weeks layout came together pretty quickly. All the pictures are collages made in Photosheet and all the cards are from the PL Clementine kit.
The left side:
AE stamp ("adventure"), and OA stickers. Days of the week stickers from the Clementine kit. Since it was so picture heavy, I wanted to make the cards pretty plain.
The right side:
The leftover family card from the go kart place and some patterned paper I had sitting on my desk, and a little bit of the Smashbook blue washii tape, but otherwise pretty plain.

splish splash

Saw the idea of trimming down the OA paper on 2peas and really liked it. I think the inking the photos and the misting the tan cardstock really made this layout.
The paper placement and the paper splashes were inspired by an Allison Davis layout, even though I didn't use the sketch.
Totally not how I expected this layout to go, but I like it.
Ugh. 88 minutes to complete this and still not sure I like it. The Imagnisce papers are cute, but kind of hard to work with. Allison Davis sketch, Sizzix letter dies, and Nestabilities square dies, cricut circle.

H20 cricut cartridge, Nestabilities square dies for the small pics
I really like this one :)

Fall Favorites

I got these two done in Branson but stopped working on layouts when I realized that I had forgotten to pack a single piece of white cardstock. D'oh!

The left side:
I picked the title block first and then kind of fit paper in around it. The paper behind the kid's paint label and pic of Brandon is actually one of the pieces of paper that Brandon was playing with the misters with.

The right side:
The fruit and veggies insert is just a plain piece of white cardstock that I stuck on the fridge and then added fruit and veggie stickers to as I used them. Got the idea from a pinterest pin.

Project Life, week 9

One of the most popular new product lines right now is Neopolitan by Dear Lizzy. I found a free journal card set on pinterest that uses the same soft pastels and decided to base my layout on that color scheme. I decided to use the MME Lost and Found Market Street 6x6 pad I bought at Hobby Lobby. It's cute and pretty, but I don't usually use a lot of pink or girly princess stuff, so I wanted to use it.

The whole spread:
The left side:
During the week, I set the journaling cards at the top, out of the way and ended up liking them lined up on top, so I left them there and stacked the photos down below. First is a card with a punched butterfly and October Afternoon letter stickers talking about the nice weather; next is typed quote from Brandon; a card with journaling about the messy garage that I'm behind onl then a card about the traffic signal Jacob made at school. The other square with something was a photo of my Target "meat haul" taken on my phone.

The right side:
Journaling card listing the songs downloaded from itunes this month; a card talking about Brandon's braces; a typed card about Brandon's new favorite game, Realm of the Mad God; and a card with a photo of the boys. The photo on the bottom left is a before and after collage of my first "furniture" transformation and then a the title block with a photo of one of my roses and a Martha Steward chipboard letter.

Starring...Jacob

I just grabbed the next project envelope in the line up, and all of them were Jacob layouts.
Just when I thought I was done with Christmas layouts, up pops a pic from 2010. MM (green), WRMK (pinks) and unknown (music) papers, Deja Views journal spot, old MM glitter letter (silver) and MaMBI sticker letters (red).
One of my recent favorites. Totally didn't realize that 2 vertical and 1 horizontal wallet photo from Sam's Club is exactly 8.5" wide. Must remember this! All the paper is from the MME/Recollections Mosaic pad at Michaels (which is really the MME Stella Ruby line, one of my favorites). Recollections black crystals (used the entire package, figured why not?), glitter heart from Michaels. The letter stickers? They are actually plain chipboard thickers that I colored with a Bic Mark-it marker. I had seen a layout from a year or two ago where someone had colored over some regular letter stickers with a Copic marker, so I figured I'd give it a try. They ended up looking pretty nice.
I tore the notation about Jacob being Star Student of the Week from his planner before dropping it in the recycle bin last spring. All paper is from Jillibean Soup; the orange number paper is the backside of the gray text paper, and the stripe is the backside of the blue/white star paper. Added in some MaMBI chipboard stickers, and after watching the 2peas layout video about embellishing plain stickers, I added a button threaded with twine over one of them.
Finally got to use the BG Max and Whiskers paper! I knew I'd eventually use it, even if it was animal themed :) The only other addition is some old K & Co letter stickers.
Started with some BG Offbeat paper and then added a strip of grey Jillibean text paper and a MaMBI star sticker leftover from the Star Student layout above. Used a glue pen to stick down the twine, and added in a heart button tied with twine and a free cut banner that I stamped with the letter stamps from Michaels that I bought for .31. I love the stamps, the only bad thing about them is that once you take them off the backing sheet, they won't go back on, so I'll have to find another way to store them.
It was so hard to cut into the Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer paper; I just wanted to sit there and stare at it. I think it has definitely taken over CC Early Bird as my favorite ever. Anyway, I had originally cut the gingham as full background sheets but it was pretty overwhelming and then I remember seeing a couple layouts that I liked recently that cut out circles as a background and gave that a try. Used my coluzzle to cut around the circle designs on one of the other sheets of paper. I like how it turned out.
